Brian Brohm
TT has this exactly right. In his interview today, he was asked if he talked to Rodgers before making the pick, and he said he had not. He also reiterated that there is no QB competition in Green Bay. This pick was made to protect the team. What would happen if Rodgers got hurt or struggled? The Pack would be doomed to a 7-9 season or worse. They went into the draft with no capable backups, and came out with a guy who could start in this league from day 1. That is why TT is one of the best GM's in the league.

Brian BrohmI also saw TTs interview. Was kind of surprised when he said he hadnt talked the pick over with Rodgers, after all they'd be competing for the job right? When he said about the no competition it made perfect sense. We didnt have a backup that could take over without missing a beat. Brohm is that guy. Hes a great fit & will be a great asset to the org. We're darn lucky to have got him |

Brian BrohmI have no problem with TT not talking to Aaron Rodgers prior to picking Brian Brohm in the draft. If Rodgers is going to be the guy this year... he should have no problem with who the Packers have holding the clipboard. I would think he would have more of a problem with Duante Cullpepper being signed than TT taking a QB in the draft! These are grown men we are talking about... hopefully they can handle it! |

Brian BrohmThe thing about drafting a quarterback like Brian Brohm is that you get a passer that has a good football family pedigree and I think in the long run he will be better than Aaron Rodgers. I think that Brohm will have pretty good stats when his career ends because he has played in a pro style offense, but always had a terrible defensive team except for 2006 when they had a few good players like Elvis Dumervil on the defensive side of the ball. I wished we (The Miami Dolphins) would've drafted Brian Brohm instead of Chad Henne. Which Aaron Rodgers will have a leg up on Brian Brohm in one area. That being the ability to have been under Brett Farve's tutoledge and being able to see him to play. I wished I could get drafted just to see that. So you have Brian Brohm who is a very good player and Aaron Rodgers who sat under Farve. I don't believe you can sit under greatness like Brett Farve and not pick up a thing or too. Football knowledge like Brett Farve has is contagious if you are around him for a long enough period of time you will pick up on it. Which last year when Farve was injured and I think I may need a refresher course. I want to say it was against the Dallas Cowboys and Rodgers wound up doing a pretty good job. Which it may take two Quarterbacks just to live up to what Farve did by himself if you can even live up to what Farve did. With the Quarterbacks like someone said you will have a good quarterback and a good back up or even this possibility of letting the better man when the job and then trade off the other quarterback and get some of the pieces yall need. You can get a great value for a good quarterback since they are so rare in the league. Ask the Baltimore Ravens. Speaking of which I think Brian Brohm is even better than their first round selection Flacco. Good Luck to the Pack and The Ending of Farve's Era. I am a Dolphins fan, but even I enjoyed watching Brett Farve play. He did gamble sometimes, but that is what made him great the ability to try and make plays that most people considered impossible and he would make them with regularity. |

Brian Brohm (BB Gun)Hmm....Louisville's great QBs have had a history of struggling in the NFL in recent history. Stefan Lefors didn't make it with Carolina. Anybody ever heard of St. Louis QB Dave Ragone? He's still there but still playing a back up role. Chris Redman was great at UofL, but just entered his growth pain playing days when he was hurt at Baltimore. Like Tommy Maddox (Pittsburgh), he had to sell insurance for a period of time before getting another chance (may start for Atlanta). Brother Jeff Brohm didn't see much playing time and got traded around as a backup before going into coaching. So recent history doesn't shine favorably on Louisville QB's. But if you look back far enough, you can't say too much bad about another Louisville QB Johnny Unitas. Brohm is a GREAT QB....not good...GREAT. He was the BEST QB in the draft. He's not a flashy guy. He's a solid individual with integrity that believes that hard work is rewarded by future benefits. Although many may not feel that his hard work in college paid off in the draft, it was. He went to the BEST NFL organization with the BEST fan base that understands football and will stick with him through the hard grwoing times...just like they will (and should) stick behind and with A Rod. Brohm won't get the huge paycheck in his first year. This is probably good because of his sense of fairness. Although he may feel shafted because lesser QB's will get paid more than him, he also knows he hasn't proven anything to GB yet. Once he proves that he's a star QB at the NFL level, he will be rewarded. He's okay with waiting. He understood his development and chance for a national championship were more important to his long term career than entering the draft early. He makes good long term decisions. You've gotta love that. There's so much to being a great NFL QB....avoiding injury...getting an opportunity and taking advantage of it....getting in the right system....having a fan base and coaching staff that understands this. Based on this, the pure odds of either ARod or BB gun making it as good or great QBs is unlikely. But based on their talent, intelligence, work ethic, and approach to the game, they both have the potential to be GREAT. It'll be fun watching! |
