Brian Brohm

I love this pick for the Pack. The NFL has become a two quarterback league, and Packer fans have been spoiled rotten by Favre's durability, so this pick makes all the sense in the world.

TT has this exactly right. In his interview today, he was asked if he talked to Rodgers before making the pick, and he said he had not. He also reiterated that there is no QB competition in Green Bay. This pick was made to protect the team. What would happen if Rodgers got hurt or struggled? The Pack would be doomed to a 7-9 season or worse. They went into the draft with no capable backups, and came out with a guy who could start in this league from day 1. That is why TT is one of the best GM's in the league.

Packers draft needs

This weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the year. Draft Time! I love the Brewers, and thanks to Comcast MLB Extra Innings, I get to see them even here in Washington, but the NFL Draft, for me, is the real start of the NFL season. So, here are what I think their needs are, and where I think they will be addressed.

Corner-Harris and Woodson are getting up there in age, and it should only be another year or two before one or both needs to be replaced. TT has usually kept the fans and media alike guessing when it comes to what he has planned, but I would be amazed if the Pack didn't take a corner in the first couple of rounds.

Tackle-Same as the explanation on the corners, except that I think eventually Colledge would fit in better as a tackle. It was all that he played in high school and college, and anyone who has seen him fill in there, can see that he is obviously more comfortable there than at guard. I would expect the Pack to address Tackle on the first day, maybe as high as the first round if they decide that the corners they can get a little later are a better value.

Tight End-Some of the mocks have the Pack taking a tight end in the first round, but I am not buying it. Lee really came on last year as a receiver, and what they really need is a blocking tight end, which you can come up with on day two.

Quarterback-Unless they can swing a deal for Losman or Rosefels, it will be buisness as usual. A late round developmental guy.

Running Back-Maybe a special teams guy, other than that don't expect anyone.

Receiver-Only if the guy is a returner.

D-Line-Depth, depth, and more depth.

Linebacker-No need.

Punter-Maybe. Seventh round.

Even after Favre retired, this team has been well stocked and is ready to contend for a Super Bowl. All of the Rodgers haters have been lining up, i.e. Viking fans, but TT and MM have shown all of the confidence in the world towards Rodgers. Personally, I think the Pack has a tough schedule, and with a young QB, there could be some growing pains, but I figure at worst 10-6. The pieces are there, all Rodgers has to do is make a couple of plays a week and they will be fine.

McNairs place in history?

After seeing McNair call it quits this weekend, I wonder where his place in the history of NFL QB's will be. My opinion is, he was a tough S.O.B., a great leader, and one of the most physically gifted guys to play the position. Does that mean he is an all-time great? No. For all of the gifts that he had(rocket arm, scrambling, good size), I just get the feeling that he underachieved a bit. That is not to say he wasn't one of the best in the game when he played, he was. But with what he had to work with physically, I get the feeling that he should have done more.

I know a lot of you think that the Titans had inferior talent when he was in his prime, and you are right, his whole career, besides Mason, he really had no receivers to speak of. When he got to Baltimore, he was just a shadow of himself, and that offense was putrid before he got there, but compare him to a few of his contemporaries.

Brady, before '07 had even less weapons than McNair did in his prime. Favre has never had a lot of weapons with him. He won the Super Bowl with a washed up Andre Rison and an ordinary Antonio Freeman. Even Elway, to an extent, never had a great reciever. Yet all three of these guys won the big one.

So where does that leave McNair? I think he is a HOFer.....eventually. He had a great, not legendary, career. All in all, I think history is going to look back on him with more respect than what he gets now.

Why Should Oklahoma City Miss Out On All The Fun?

Over the past few months, it has become obvious that eventually, the Sonics are going to end up there. To all of the disgruntled Sonic fans, all I have to say is don't be so selfish. OK has never had a major sports franchise to speak of(the Hornets don't count), so why shouldn't they get their chance in the big leagues.

Here is just a sampling of what they have been missing over the years:

1)Owners who could care less about the fan.....it's all about the bottom line. After all, they aren't rich for nothing.

2)Franchises holding a community hostage for a new arena.

3)The drunk idiot who won't quit cussing and making a fool of himself in front of your children.

4)Holdouts

5)Player strikes and general labor unrest(you are making 35000 a year,them... 5 mil)

6)$10 beer

7)$20 parking

8)Relentless heartburn after a $7.50 stadium dog.

9)Half hour waits to take a leak.

10)Getting 3 hours of sleep on a work night because the game went to 2OT's.....you stayed, your team lost.

11)A 15 minute drive that lasts 3 hours because of the traffic after the game.

There are many more, and I mostly enjoy catching a game or two a year, but be prepared to take the good with the bad.
